Arrivo ora dal cinema, dopo aver visto The Fighter, diretto David O. Russell e recitato, tra gli altri, da Mark Wahlberg e Christian Bale. Il film candidato a 7 premi oscar e  vincitore di 2 Golden Globe  è sicuramente una delle pellicole più interessanti dell’anno. Ma non siamo qui (per ora) a parlare di cinema. Quello che segnaliamo è la bellissima colonna sonora. Il motivo principale è How You Like Me Now? dei The Heavy (video Youtube qui sotto). Non mancano gran pezzi come Strip My Mind dei Red Hot Chili Pepper. Ma la mia qui, è un’invasione di campo… Lascio il giudizio ai veri esperti in fatto di rock della redazione come il nostro Cannibal Kid.

Di moda e di stile ci capisco ben poco quindi non ci proverò nemmeno a parlare di Alexander McQueen, per la cui storia probabilmente non basterebbero 15 domini di internet.

La sua morte ha colpito non solo il mondo delle passerelle, ma anche l’universo artistico nel suo complesso e come succede sempre più spesso ci scappa il film-documentario. Autore del cortometraggio “Per Lee, con amore, Nick” è l’amico Nick Knight, altro personaggio sul quale mi riservo ogni commento; e la sorpresa più piacevole riguarda la colonna sonora che è stata curata da Bjork.

Questo video che vi proponiamo, presentato dallo stesso Knight al British Fashion Council Awards è un lungo addio caleidoscopico, lento e commovente; un elogio funebre fatto di archi ed inimitabile eleganza tutt’altro che distaccato. Una poesia che rappresenta l’epitaffio ideale per un artista che ha cucito in modo indelebile, il suo nome nel mondo.

I don’t know anything about fashion or style, so i can’t write something clear about Alexander McQueen.

His dead brought on a lot of reactions and the famous photographer and friend Nick Knight decided to do a short film. The OST was created by another friend of Alexander, Bjork!

This video is a long farewell, slow and touching; it’s a commemoration made by strings and incomparable elegance. It represents he ideal epitap of an artist who leave his indelible mark on the world.

Sono due giovani inglesi che probabilmente il sabato mattina si piazzavano davanti alla tv e passavano le ore davanti a cartoni come i Transformers, Tartarughe Ninja, o He-man. E la sera indigestione di film  fantastici, da La Storia infinita, a Karate Kid e Ritorno al Futuro.

Sembra banale, ma è importante.

Infatti nella loro musica si sente tantissimo questo ritorno agli anni ’80 e alla magia che i mass media trasmettevano a quel tempo.

Synth fantascientifici, nemmeno fossimo i protagonisti di un film di James Cameron, si accompagnano a ritmiche 2 step e sequenze melodiche da sitcom!

Finalmente tornano su Beatport, dopo l’album di esordio pubblicato su Southern Fried, con un ep molto sostanzioso su Kiez Beats che raccoglie tutti i remix dei loro brani più noti. Remix di altri nostalgici della retro electro come Anoraak e Stephen Falken (Valerie Collective), o Silicon Project.

Unica pecca: le versioni originali sembrano tutte uguali, ma è fuori discussione che la musica elettronica sta cambiando. O sta ritornando?

In their sound we can find the return to the ’80s and the magic feeling that tv brought to everyone. Sci-Fi synths as a James Cameron movie follow 2 stepping drum patterns and Sit com’s melodies.

Finally the publish the second release on Beatport on Kiez Beats, the first came out on Southern Fried, with remixes of their most famous tracks. Remix by others Retro Electro fans as Anoraak and Stephen Falken (Valerie Collective), or Silicon Project.

The original songs seems al the same, but it’s indisputable that electronic music is changing.

Sì, il rock’n’roll ti fa venire voglia di cominciare una rivoluzione e sì, l’hip-hop ti convince che è facile rimorchiare un sacco di donnine facili, ma i Daft Punk ti hanno mostrato come solo la musica elettronica possa davvero far saltare in aria la tua testa. Il primo disco “Homework” ha inventato la house music moderna, il secondo “Discovery” è una cosa tipo il più grande party album di tutti i tempi e il terzo “Human After All” non è umano per niente ma ancora una volta ha rivoluzionato il tuo concetto di musica.

Poi arriva questa colonna sonora per “Tron: Legacy”, una roba che la senti una volta e pensi ai Vangelis, a Philip Glass, a Brian Eno. La senti una seconda volta e pensi “Che palle!”. La senti una terza volta, ti teletrasporta dentro il mondo di Tron e pensi “Oops… l’hanno fatto di nuovo”. Tron: non ci sono paragon.
