Novità da Berlino per Sascha Ring aka Apparat.

Dopo un periodo di silenzio, torna sulla scena con alcune novità, già peraltro annunciate in diverse occasioni da lui stesso (come la collaborazione stretta con Telefon Tel Aviv).

La componente elettronica di matrice tedesca, sperimentale e visionaria, lascia spazio alla meditazione. Un album concettuale, di forte impatto emotivo, che si concentra sulle arie e sulle atmosfere attraverso una discreta contaminazione di postrock, chillwave ed incubi notturni. Le speranze nutrite nella camera da letto prendono forma grazie anche alla delicatezza della parte vocale che, se da una parte alza la qualità strumentale del lavoro dall’altra, forse, lascia per strada una serie di elementi che avevano caratterizzato la nascita di questo progetto.

E’ passato poco più di un mese dal trentennale della morte di John Lennon. 30 anni da quel triste 8 dicembre 1980, quando uno squilibrato di nome Mark Chapman si esplose contro 4 colpi di pistola contro l’artista pronunciando la famosa frase “Ehi Mr. Lennon… Sta per entrare nella storia”. Forse Chapman nel suo delirio non si era reso conto che John era già entrato di diritto nella storia grazie alla sua fantastica musica e non certamente per quel gesto infame.

Oggi ci vorremmo soffermare su un album da solista, il terzo per la precisione, il “Wedding Album” che si ricorda per “Amsterdam” traccia che documenta il primo “bed-in” cioè la protesta pacifista del 1969 attuata da John Lennon & Yoko Ono nella camera n°1902 dell’ Hotel Hilton di Amsterdam contro la guerra in Vietnam. I due stavano trascorrendo la luna di miele e passarono una settimana a letto davanti a moltissimi giornalisti e fotografi che si accalcavano nella camera d’albergo nella speranza di vedere la coppia fare l’amore in pubblico. In verità rilasciarono solo interviste in pigiama e dichiarazioni a favore della pace. Come dicevamo questo fu il primo “Bed-in”. Poco dopo ne seguì un altro tentato da John a new york, ma impeditogli per l’uso di cannabis. Dunque la coppia ripiegò a Montreal, in Canada, dove tra l’altro sotto la direzione di Andrè Perry registrarono “Give peace a chance” uno dei primi singoli della “Plastic ono band” e ancora oggi inno del movimento pacifista internazionale. Il disco è attribuito a “John & Yoko” e loro lo consideravano come un souvenir del loro matrimonio da regalare ai tanti fans. L’album e’ raccolto in un box molto lussuoso che conteneva il disco, un poster con immagini del matrimonio e la fotografia di una fetta di torta nunziale, una copia del certificato di matrimonio, un fumetto disegnato da John, una cartolina,  e i commenti dei giornali dell’epoca sul matrimonio dell’anno. La confezione era molto bella,ma non lo stesso si puo’ dire del contenuto dell’album: nel primo lato “John & Yoko” consisteva in  22 minuti di loro che si chiamano a vicenda con battiti cardiaci di sottofondo, mentre nel secondo lato ”Amsterdam” testimonia il loro primo “bed-in” come spiegavamo prima,con spezzoni di canzoni suonate e cantate dai due. Nonostante ciò il box completo è molto ricercato a livello collezionistico, più che altro per il contenuto del box che lo rende un vero cimelio per tutti i fan di Lennon.

It ‘s been just over a month after the thirtieth anniversary of the death of John Lennon. 30 years since that sad December 8, 1980, when a deranged man named Mark Chapman exploded four shots against the artist by saying the famous phrase, “Hey Mr. Lennon you are about to make history ….” Perhaps in his delirium Chapman didn’t realized that John had already entered  in the history due to its fantastic music and certainly not for that infamous act.

Today we would like to talk about a solo album, the third to be precise, the “Wedding Album” that will be remembered for the “Amsterdam” trak that documents the first “bed-in”, the peaceful protest that is implemented in 1969 by John Lennon & Yoko Ono in Room No.1902 of the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam against the war in Vietnam. The two artists were spending their honeymoon and spent a week in bed in front of many journalists and photographers who thronged the hotel room in hopes of seeing the couple making love in public. In truth, they released only in pajamas interviews and statements in favor of peace. As we said this was the first “Bed-in”. Soon after followed another attempt by John in New York, but blocked for the use of cannabis. So the couple retreated to Montreal, Canada, where among other things, under the direction of Andre Perry recorded “Give Peace a Chance” one of the first single of the “Plastic Ono Band” and still the song of the international peace movement. The record is attributed to “John & Yoko” and they regarded than as a souvenir of their wedding to give to their many fans. The album is compoed of a very luxurious box containing the disc, a poster with pictures of the wedding and a photograph of a slice of wedding cake, a copy of marriage certificate, a comic book drawn by John, a postcard, and comments the newspapers of the wedding of the year. The packaging was very nice, but not the same you can say about the content of the album: the first track, “John & Yoko” consisted of 22 minutes of John and Yoko calling each other with heartbeats in the background, while the second track “Amsterdam ” tells about their first “bed-in” as explained above, with clips of songs played and sung by the two. Despite what the box looked at very collectible, mostly for the contents of the box, making it a true heirloom for all fans of Lennon.

Ad aprire la nuova stagione del progetto Mischio Dischi Disco ci pensa Allo, comandante dell’etichetta nostrana La Valigetta.

Un’idea nuova e completamente libera che ci riporta nel clima della Disco Music anni ’70 e che ci obbliga ad interrogarci sulle infinite potenzialità di un genere musicale che non muore mai, ma che continua ad evolversi e diversificarsi senza però, perdere nulla della sua eleganza.

Un mix ben confezionato e luccicoso che farebbe muovere il piedino anche a delle statue di marmo.

A new free idea that brings us in the athmosphere of the 70′s with Disco Music. We must wonder about the endless possibilities of a kind of music that never dies. It evolves but still contains his special elegance.

A very nice and brilliant mix which makes able to dance even marble statues.

Uno degli album più importanti dei Beatles è sicuramente “Revolver”. E’ il settimo album della discografia ufficiale e per la prima volta emergono elementi rock psichedelici. Il disco, uscito il 5 agosto 1966, raggiunse la prima posizione sia nelle classifiche uk che in quelle usa. Viene anche ricordato perchè è il primo album dei cosidetti “studio years”, anni in cui i Beatles cessarono di fare concerti. Nel 1965 il quartetto di Liverpool raggiunse la saturazione delle esibizioni live così decisero di impiegare meglio tempo ed energie nella composizione di  brani e nella ricerca di nuove tecniche di registrazione: il 29 agosto 1966 a San Francisco daranno l’addio ai concerti live. In questo album per la prima volta emerge la figura di George Harrison per il suo interesse verso il misticismo e la cultura indiana. Come dicevamo prima l’album ha forti elementi psichedelici che si possono riscontrare soprattutto nei brani lisergici di John Lennon “I’m on sleeping” con nastri di chitarra registrati al contrario, o “Doctor Robert” in cui si parla esplicitamente del dottore “lisergico” della band e per finire “Tomorrow never knows” pezzo psichedelico per eccellenza ispirato al libro dei morti tibetano.

In vinile esistono moltissime stampe di diversi paesi, ma sicuramente la più rara e ricercata dai collezionisti di tutto il mondo è la prima stampa inglese – nelle foto – chiamata “Remix 11” cioè un loud cut di “Tomorrow never knows”. Di questa rarissima edizione ne esistono poi pochissime copie pressate solo nella versione mono per errore da uno dei stabilimenti in cui il disco veniva prodotto e ritirato dalla vendita lo stesso giorno! Ovviamente stiamo parlando di una “rarità nella rarità”, un vinile con un’ altissima valutazione di mercato. Ma non disperate, per chi si vuole avvicinare a questo favoloso album senza spendere cifre astronomich esistono moltissime stampe di buona fattura che danno la possibilità a tutti di avere tra la propria collezione un disco unico, posizionato dalla rivista Rolling Stones al 3° posto della lista dei migliori 500 album della storia.

One of The Beatles’s important album is definitely “Revolver”. It’s the seventh album of their official discography for the first that reveal some psychedelic and rock elements. The disc, released on August 5, 1966, reached the top in both the UK and U.S. charts. It’s also remembered because it’s the first album of the so-called “studio years”, when the Beatles stopped doing concerts. In 1965 the quartet from Liverpool reached the saturation of live performances, so decided to spend more time and effort in songwriting and in the search for new methods of registration: August 29, 1966 in San Francisco will bid farewell to the live concerts. In this album for the first time the figure of George Harrison  rise up for his interest in mysticism and Indian culture. As we said before, the album has strong psychedelic elements that can be found especially in the songs of John Lennon’s “I’m on sleeping” with ribbons of guitar recorded on the contrary, or “Doctor Robert”, which speaks explicitly of the doctor “lysergic” and finally” Tomorrow Never Knows” the psychedelic piece for excellence inspired by the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

There are a lot of vinyl prints of different countries, but certainly the most rare and coveted by collectors around the world is the first British press – in pictures – called “Remix 11″, a loud cut of “Tomorrow Never Knows.” Of this rare edition there are very few copies pressed only in mono by mistake by one of the establishments where the disc was produced and withdrawn from sale the same day! Obviously we are talking about a “rarity in the rarity” vinyl with a very high market valuation. But don’t despair, for those who want to bring this fabulous album without spending a lot there are plenty of good quality prints that give the chance for everyone to have in its collection a unique disc, positioned by the Rolling Stones on the 3rd spot of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Non possiamo iniziare a parlare di questo disco senza prima parlare dell’ artista Demetrio Stratos. Stratos fu un vero studioso e ricercatore delle potenzialità della voce e nel suo percorso di artista non smise mai di esercitare nuove sperimentazioni “usando” le sue corde vocali come un vero e proprio strumento, riuscendo a perfezionare la tecnica vocale degli armonici simultanei e arrivando a produrre suoni vocali quadrifonici (cioè 4 suoni contemporaneamente) e a toccare inauditi picchi di 7.000 hertz. A chi ascolta appare chiaro il messaggio dell’artista di voler utilizzare la voce come traino senza utilizzare nè parole nè musica, recuperando la dimensione primordiale in cui la sacralità della voce era capace di introdurre in una dimensione magica capace di curare l’anima. Stratos collaborò, come studioso per ricerche sulla vocalità, con il centro studi di fonetica del CNR di Padova e come insegnante di semiologia della musica al conservatorio Verdi di Milano. Stratos si spense a solo 34 anni per una grave forma di anemia aplastica.

Il disco che vi presentiamo questa settimana e proprio un vero studio sulla teoria della musicalità della voce, capace di produrre suoni senza strumenti. “Cantare la voce”, non è un disco di musica in quanto la musica è assente, ma senza arroganza o provocazioni, è stato semplicemente registrato in base ad anni di studi e sperimentazioni. E’ un disco di escursioni vocali, vocalizzi, suoni che paiono e sono grugniti mescolati ad acuti elevati, umanamente inconcepibili. Gargarismi, grovigli e peripezie vocali capaci di produrre  suoni simultanei che si sovrappongono. Una produzione di suoni che lascia letteralmente esterefatto chi ascolta in quanto le monodie tipiche vengono letteralmente “sostituite” da vocalizzi che rappresentano e sostituiscono a tutti gli effetti delle piccole orchestrazioni, più suoni emessi contemporaneamente e chiaramente distinguibili fanno di questo disco qualcosa di assolutamente….unico!!!!

Naturalmente ci rendiamo conto che è un disco molto particolare, interessante per chi è attratto dalle potenzialità del corpo umano, ma pur richiedendo un ascolto reiterato per esser apprezzato nel suo insieme.

We can’t begin to talk about this record without first talking about the artist Demetrio Stratos. Stratos was a true studious and researcher on the potential of voice and in his journey as artist he never ceased to carry out new experiments “using” his vocal cords like a real instrument, managing to perfect the technique of simultaneous harmonic voice arriving to produce quadraphonic vocal sounds (4 vocal sounds at once) and tap the unprecedented surge of 7,000 hertz. For those who listen the artist’s message is clear: he wants to use the voice as towing without neither words nor music, taking the primordial dimension in which the sacredness of the voice was able to enter into a magical dimension that can cure the soul. Stratos worked as a studious for research on the vocal with the center of phonetic studies in Padova as a teacher of semiotics and of music at the Verdi Conservatory in Milan. Stratos died at only 34 years for a severe form of aplastic anemia.

The record that we present this week is a study on the theory of the musicality of the voice, capable of producing sounds without instruments. “Cantare la voce” is not an album of music because music is absent, but without arrogance or provocation, it was simply recorded on the basis of years of study and experimentation. It’s an album of vocal excursions, vocalizations, grunts and sounds that seem to be mixed with high treble, humanly inconceivable. Gargling, intricacies vocal and vicissitudes capable of producing simultaneous sounds that overlap. A production of sounds that literally leaves the listener astonished because the typical monodies are “replaced” by vocalizations that are in effect like a small orchestra, more sounds simultaneously and clearly distinguishable make this disc something absolutely… unique!!!
