CULT NOT CLASSIC: BJORK – HOMOGENIC

Dimenticate il folletto saltellante che sospirava “It’s all so quiet”. Dimenticate le atmosfere leggere di Post.
Lasciatevi cullare dalle onde di Homogenic (1997), sesto album dell’ecclettica Bjork.
Bjork non ha sicuramente mai avuto paura di sperimentare ma con questo album si è davvero lasciata andare. L’atmosfera è d’impatto: trip hop e orchestre sinfoniche riescono a creare un’armonia di suoni che ha qualcosa di mistico; archi delicati si vanno a fondere con la raffinata ambient d’oltre manica degli anni novanta. Ogni singolo suono, che provenga da sinfonie antiche, da vergini foreste islandesi o da campionature techno riesce a incastrarsi perfettamente in un album sincero e estroverso ma molto minuzioso e maturo.
Bjork è un’artista curiosa che con questo lavoro ha anteposto se’ stessa alle aspettative del pubblico. E’ un’ anima sognate il cui interesse spazia dalla musica alle arti figurative senza contorni definiti. I videoclip tratti da Homogenic sono dei capolavori sia per ispirazione sia per regia (per citare giusto due nomi a caso: Michel Gondry e Alexander McQueen).
Non saprei quale potrebbe essere il brano simbolo di questa meraviglia e se mi chiedessero qual è il mio preferito credo risponderei che dipende dal mio umore. E questo è il bello di Homogenic, lo si assimila in modo diverso a seconda dello stato d’animo, a volte sono più di impatto le casse, a volte fanno più male i violini.In questo momento però mi sento molto Hunter.

Let yourself be lulled by the waves of Homogenic (1997), the sixth album of the eclectic Bjork.
Bjork has certainly never been afraid to experiment but with this album is really left herself go. The atmosphere is impressive: trip-hop and symphony orchestras create a harmony of sounds that has something mystical, delicate arches merge with the refined 90’s british ambient.Every single sound, which originates from ancient symphonies, or from virgin Icelandic forests or techno samples can fit perfectly into an album sincere and outgoing but very detailed and mature.Bjork is a curious artist, with this work she put herself forward the fans expectation.
She is a soul dreaming whose interest ranges from music to visual arts without edges. Video clips taken from Homogenic are masterpieces for inspiration and directing (to cite just two names at random: Michel Gondry, Alexander McQueen).
I don’ t know what it could be the song-symbol and if someone asked me what my favorite song I would say that depends on my mood. And that’s the beauty of Homogenic, everyone can assimilate it in different ways depending on the state of mind, sometimes the bass drums has a very strong impact, sometimes violins hurt. At the moment , however, I feel very Hunter.
