LANA DEL REY: “BORN TO DIE” IS BORN

E alla fine è arrivato. Dopo tanto discutere sulle sue labbra rifatte o non rifatte (rifatte, rifatte!), sulle sue esibizioni live non esattamente esaltanti e sulla sua popolarità creata da presunte strategie di marketing per la hipster generation, che a quanto pare hanno funzionato alla grande, habemus album. “Born To Die” a dirla tutta uscirà ufficialmente solo il 30 gennaio, però come al solito il “leak” in rete è già arrivato. Come suona, or dunque, questo secondo disco (il primo non se l’era filato nessuno) della nostra nuova preferita Lana, in grado di superare persino Lana Lang e la lana, nel senso del tessuto?

Un pochino è una delusione. Eh, sì. I pezzi migliori, quelle perle di “Video Games”, “Born To Die” e “Blue Jeans” sono i vertici assoluti dell’album, mentre il resto cerca di riproporre la stessa formula in modo sì carino, ma non agli stessi livelli. Qualche pezzo in grado di conquistare il nostro cuoricino comunque c’è, vedi “Radio”, e gli echi di Fiona Apple qua e là rendono l’ascolto ancora più interessante. Però da Lana la Dea, Lana la nuova icona dei nostri giorni, Lana la Regina, ci aspettavamo qualcosina in più. Poveri noi piccoli hipster illusi…

And then it came. After all the discussions about her big (fake?) lips, her live performances not exactly great and her popularity created by some hipster generation marketing strategies, that actually worked very well, we got the album. “Born To Die” will be officially out just on January 30, but hey, as usual there’s an online leak! So, how does it sound this second record of our new favourite Lana, who has overtaken even Lana Lang as played by Kristin Kreuk?

A little disappointing. A little, oh yes, sorry. The precious and already known “Video Games”, “Born To Die” and “Blue Jeans” are the better songs, while the rest of the track list offers the same formula in a cute way, but non with the same results. A bunch of songs, like “Radio”, could win our little heart in the end, and the echoes of Fiona Apple add a good taste to the listening. But, there’s a but: from Lana the Goddess, Lana the new icon of our days, Lana the Queen, we expected a little bit better. What a bunch of dreamy hipsters, we fool!
