  1. IS TROPICAL MIXTAPE

    La nostra collezione di post dedicati agli Is Tropical si arrichisce con un mixtape. Loro non sono sicuramente dei dj nel vero senso del termine; suonano, si sbronzano e fanno macello sul palco e fuori.

    Sanno però selezionare e questo mix ne è la prova. Un bel cofanetto molto underground e poco sulla scena. Si respira aria tanto torbida, quando rassicurante. Sonorità ovattate si confondono in modo molto ben organizzato a ritmi post wave da band dissociata.

    Our collection of posts dedicated to Is Tropical is enriched with a mixtape. They are definitely not djs in the truest sense of the word; they play, get drunk and make slaughter out and on stage.

    They know, however, select, and this mix is the proof. A nice little box very underground and out of the scene. You can breathe air so cloudy, when reassuring. Muffled sounds blend so well organized with rhythm post wave of dissociated band.

  2. METRONOMY – SHE WANTS

    Primo singolo già in free download e nuovo album praticamente in uscita.

    I Metronomy ritornano, dopo un paio d’anni di silenzio, con nuovo lavoro che si discoterà da quello precedente. Molto più dark-new wave, molto più anni 80′ e con dei cambiamenti nella formazione originaria. La nuova drummer, nonchè seconda voce Anna Prior, trasforma e dà sostanza ad un progetto rimasto nell’ombra per troppo tempo e che quest’anno finirà nell’Ipod di tutti.

    Speriamo di rivederli presto in Italia perchè il loro live è un’esperienza davvero unica e sorprendente, nella quale si mescolano giochi di luce, pose teatrali e tanta tanta tanta sintesi elettronica!

    First single already on free downloads and new album practically out.

    Metronomy return, after a couple of years of silence, with new work that will drift away from the previous one. Much darker-new wave, much more 80 years’ and with changes in the original formation. The new drummer, as well as backing vocals Anna Prior, transforms and gives substance to a project remained in the shadows for too long and that this year will end everyone’s iPod.

    We hope to see them soon in Italy because their live is a truly unique and surprising, which are mixed light shows, theatrical poses and a lot of great electronic synthesis!

  3. EX OTAGO – COSTA RICA

    Nuovo singolo per i genovesi Ex-Otago, ma onestamente definirlo “singolo” rischia di svilire completamente la magia di una canzone, che personalmente aspettavo da due anni e che stava per finire in prescrizione. Due anni da quel concerto, nella fioritissima Pavia di fine Maggio, nel quale diedero un semplice assaggio di Costa Rica, la loro dedica romantica per un amico partito per un lungo viaggio.

    Una ballata leggera avvolta da una chitarra e da pochi accordi di piano, in un clima di rilassatissimo trasporto. Un pensiero sincero e libero per un amico ed un tributo indiretto per la loro città, Genova, piena di ricordi e di rimpianti. Una poesia commossa da cantare e suonare insieme agli affetti più cari e con in bocca quel sapore amaro dei tempi passati ed incerto per quelli futuri.

    New Single for The Italians Ex-Otago, but honestly define ”single” is likely todepreciate completely the magic of a song, which I personally waited for two years and that was about to end statute of limitations. Two years since that concert, in the coloured Pavia at the end of May, which gave just a taste of Costa Rica, their romantic dedication for a long journey of a friend.

    A light ballad wrapped in a guitar and a few piano chords, in a climate of really relaxing transport. A sincere thought and free for a friend and an indirecttribute to their hometown, Genova, full of memories and regrets. A poem moved to sing and play along with friends and with the bitter taste in the mouth of the past and uncertain for the future.

    Decennale della DFA records anticipato dalla consueta compilation carica di perle rare.

    Un trinomio travolgente di Elettronica, Nu Disco ed Indie Dance che non delude le aspettative. Una tradizione musicale che, nonostante le continue evoluzioni e le numerose sfaccettature, continua a promuovere della musica adulta di qualità sopraffina.

  5. CHROMATICS

    Si etichettano come gruppo Pop, ma siamo distanti anni luce dalle canzonette di Christina Aguilera. In fondo un’etichetta è solo una convenzione; basterebbe ascoltare con cura le canzoni di questi 4 giovani artisti per notare la differenza tra ciò che il mainstream impone e ciò che invece, viene creato con il cuore.

    Probabilmente i Chromatics non sono la band più allegra in circolazione e nemmeno tra le più originali, ma il loro terzo album In The City è una raccolta di piccoli sogni lucidi che tendono all’infinito. Il basso garantisce quella dose di cattiveria non eccessiva, compensata mirabilmente da una voce calda e passionale; mentre cassa e rullante  lavorano alle spalle, senza virtuosismi inutili. Brani mediamente lunghi, creati con ponderazione e senso estetico; brani lontani dalla sregolatezza e dalla fisicità, che cercano di toccare più alla testa che alle gambe.

    Ed anche dove si recita I’m On Fire (traccia numero 3) più che un incendio sembra un piccolo fuocherello il quale però, riesce a trasmettere ugualmente quell’ardore mentale e quell’eccitazione suburbana, fatta di piccole variazioni cromatiche che si perdono con l’avvicinarsi delle luci del mattino.

    They think they’re Pop, but we’re far away from Christina Aguilera’s songs. By the way, a name it’s just a name, but we you listen Chromatics you can see the difference between what mainstream wants and what you create with passion.

    Probably they are not the happiest band in the world, and not even the most original; but their album In The City it’s a mix of little lucid dreams which bring us to the infinite. Bassline gives wickedness and it balanced with an hot and sexual voice; kick and snare works behind the scene without excesses. Tracks are created with intelligence and they work much on the head then on the legs.

  6. CUT COPY – NEW ALBUM PREVIEW

    Una delle band rivelazione di una manciata di anni fa sta tornando. I Cut Copy con la loro musica a metà strada tra l’indie rock ed il nu funk usciranno il 4 Febbraio con il nuovo album, Zonoscope su Modular.

    Questo nuovo progetto risente di alcune novità nel modo di interpretare la musica dei 3 giovani Australiani. Alle solite linee di basso graffianti e alle percussioni per certi versi caraibiche si aggiungono una serie di synth elettronici che rendono il lavoro molto più innovativo e in linea con la tendenza del momento. “Take me over” è l’esempio di questo nuovo ( o vecchio a seconda delle interpretazioni) modo di fare musica.

    One of the most intersting band of few years ago is coming back. The Cut Copy, with their sound between Indie rock and Nu Funk will publish their new album Zonoscope on 4 February, on Modular rec.

    This new project feels the effects of the rebirth of the 80′s. Fresh basslines, balearic drums plus electronic synths that give to the projects, profiles of innovation. Take me over is the example of this new (or old, it depends on points of view) musical vision.
